Even today, many people fantasize about a world without guns, or at least where murderers can't get guns, but this fantasy is COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE to achieve in REALITY.  Why? BECAUSE YOU CANNOT "UN-INVENT" TECHNOLOGY.  Millions of guns have been buried in hiding places all over the world, not just in the U.S., Cheap "Saturday night specials" are made from scratch by inner-city gangs.  Perfect replicas of sophisticated automatic weapons can be created using computerized "3D printing".  From now on and FOREVER criminals will ALWAYS be able to acquire guns ANYWHERE THEY ARE.  113 illegal gun shops and FACTORIES were closed down in MAINLAND CHINA (of all places!) in 2006 alone.  See: http://tinyurl.com/anj5exc

Anyone who's been in prison for any length of time knows how to take all kinds of everyday household items and turn them into weapons.  Even if guns could magically be made to disappear, it would NOT eliminate home invaders, muggers or murderers.
he unrealistic fantasizers are not just horrified, as we all are, by the recent mass murder at a school in Connecticut, but they are apparently scared senseless.

The answer is not just wishing guns would go away, but in eliminating the mandated "gun-free zones" where almost all the mass shootings in recent decades took place.  Now pay attention CAREFULLY to the following statistics and THINK:
The odds of being killed in a mass shooting are even less than those of being struck by lightning.  The average number of people killed in mass shootings when stopped by police is 14.29, whereas the average number when stopped by an armed civilian is 2.33.  As the saying goes, "when seconds count the police are only minutes away," and "A gun in the hand is worth 10 on the phone."  Besides, the number of mass killings per decade has been going down, not up, precisely because more and more decent, honest people are armed. "After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military." -- William Burroughs (b. 1914) author, "The War Universe"

"And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press, or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms…"  -- Samuel Adams, Debates of the Massachusetts Convention of 1788, printed in "Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts", at 86-87 (Peirce & Hale, eds., Boston, 1850)

"A well-regulated population being necessary to the security of a police state, the right of the Government to keep and destroy arms shall not be infringed." - Vin Suprynowicz's cynical look at how gun-grabbers read the second amendment
"Suppose the Second Amendment said, 'A well-educated Electorate, being necessary for self-governance in a free State, the right of the people to keep and read Books, shall not be infringed.' Is there anyone who would suggest that means only registered voters have a right to read?" -- Georgetown University professor Robert Levy

"Mass shootings should not be the centerpiece of gun-control policy. Mass shooters are motivated, difficult to detect, and commit only a tiny fraction of gun violence in America. Pretending that stopping these psychopaths is a matter of passing 'commonsense' laws is just moral grandstanding for cheap political points." - Trevor Burrus, HERE

Murder rates do NOT go down after gun bans, thus the arguments to so egregiously violate citizens' rights to self-defense are WORTHLESS.  See THIS
